Electro-Optical / Infrared: confirm before you decide

A radar track and an RF hit tell you where and roughly what. Before a human decides, someone usually needs to see it — and at night, in weather, or at range, the naked eye is not enough.

Demonstrated
  • STANAG 4609
  • STANAG 4607
  • NATO SAPIENT
  • DoDD 3000.09

DaggerOS™ brings electro-optical and infrared imagery into the same fused picture as radar and RF, so a track can be visually confirmed and identified day or night. The operator sees the object, not just its blip, and the identification is bound to the track and written to the record. BlackEcho™ can cue the camera to the highest-priority track.

How DaggerOS handles it

EO/IR is the domain that turns a probable track into a confirmed one. DaggerOS ties imagery to the fused track so the operator’s visual identification carries the same provenance as every other decision input. Infrared extends that confirmation into darkness and obscurants. The imagery informs the human; it does not act — the Human Gate governs any effect that follows.

  • DaggerOS — binds EO/IR identification to the fused track and the decision record.
  • BlackEcho — recommends which track to slew to and drafts the identification for the operator to confirm.
  • Human Gate — the single authorization point.

Standards touched

Motion imagery and its metadata are handled in line with STANAG 4609, so imagery carries the time, sensor, and geo-context that make an identification defensible. Track hand-off aligns to STANAG 4607 and NATO SAPIENT. Human-in-command is held to DoDD 3000.09.

Where it fits

EO/IR confirmation is central to base air defense, force protection, and border surveillance — anywhere a human must positively identify before deciding. It matters most to SOF elements, installation defenders, and program offices. See base air defense and the SOF view.

FAQ

Does the AI decide what it sees?

BlackEcho drafts an identification and cues the camera, but the human confirms. The identification is a decision input, not an action, and any effect passes the Human Gate.

Does infrared help at night?

Yes. Infrared extends visual confirmation into darkness, weather, and obscurants, which is exactly when a radar or RF track most needs a human’s eyes on it.

Is the imagery kept as evidence?

Yes. Imagery is bound to the track with its time, sensor, and geo-metadata per STANAG 4609, so a confirmed identification is part of the tamper-evident record.
